The geothermal features of Yellowstone take center stage, for good reason.  Visiting the iridescent colors of the hot springs, some bigger than a football field, and watching geysers shoot a plume of boiling water nearly 200 feet in the air is quite the show.  But Yellowstone also has spectacular mountains, canyons, waterfalls and lakes.  And the wildlife encounters are virtually non-stop.  Bang for the buck, you’ll get huge variety with a trip to Yellowstone.

The nine-day Yellowstone Itinerary includes visiting the geysers and colorful hot springs.  Your trip will also feature the best hikes to lakes, mountains, waterfalls and canyons.  There is a scenic drive through the mountains and a day for boating.  And you will also spend mornings staking out two of the best spots for viewing wildlife such as buffalo, bears and wolves.

Travel tips include airport, lodging and camping information, as well as links to current conditions and travel alerts.  The “Short on Time?  Don’t Miss” section identifies four activities (can be combined over three days) that are highlights.  Trip extensions listed include several additional hiking options.

Note that due to the parks' close proximities, if you purchase both the Yellowstone and Grand Teton Itineraries, you can get a free itinerary combining both parks into either a one week or two week trip.

New:  Looking for a shorter introductory overview itinerary?  A new 3 day in-park itinerary is now also included in this Guide.
