Viewing the Teton Range invokes a lot of superlatives, but the one that sticks the most is dramatic.  There are no foothills—the jagged teeth of the Tetons shoot straight out of the plains into the sky.  Snow fed lakes dot along the base of the mountains, mirroring their alpine counterparts in the fresh, still morning air.  Wildlife abounds—moose hide along the waterways, bears forage for berries, eagles soar overhead and pronghorn antelope dance though the prairie.

The nine-day Grand Teton itinerary starts out with a scenic drive and warm-up hike to introduce you to all the best spots for scenery and wildlife viewing.  The trip includes the most memorable hikes, including a mix of relatively flat lake hikes combined with some refreshing swims, as well as some more alpine hikes up into the mountains.  There are two mornings spent kayaking on glass-like lakes in front of the mountains.  There is also time spent road biking and a day flatwater rafting.

Travel tips include airport, lodging and camping information, as well as links to current conditions and travel alerts.  The “Short on Time?  Don’t Miss” section identifies four activities (can be combined over three days) that are highlights.  Trip extensions listed include several additional hiking and backpacking options.

Note that due to the parks' close proximities, if you purchase both the Grand Teton and Yellowstone Itineraries, you can get a free itinerary combining both parks into either a one week or two week trip.

New:  Looking for a shorter introductory overview itinerary?  A new 3 day in-park itinerary is now also included in this Guide.
